This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of Linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS. The installation is quite simple and assumes you are running in the root account, if not you may need to add ‘sudo’ to the commands to get root privileges. Install Anaconda Python on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Step 1. First make sure that all your system packages are up-to-date
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
Step 2. Installing Anaconda Python on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Open a terminal and type the following command to install Python 3 Anaconda:
wget https://repo.continuum.io/archive/Anaconda3-5.2.0-Linux-x86_64.sh
Now verify the data integrity of the installer with cryptographic hash verification through the SHA-256 checksum:
sha256sum Anaconda3-5.2.0-Linux-x86_64.sh
Now we can run the script:
bash Anaconda3-5.2.0-Linux-x86_64.sh -b -p ~/anaconda rm Anaconda3-5.2.0-Linux-x86_64.sh echo 'export PATH="~/anaconda/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.bashrc
In order to activate the installation, you should source the ~/.bashrc file:
source ~/.bashrc conda update conda source ~/anaconda/bin/activate root
